The entire reason I started making horror games was a combined effort between the absolute nightmare game Outlast and my own experience. One night walking around at about 3 AM at the Jersey Shore I was making my way towards the beach to have a stroll by the ocean. To get to the beach there's a wooden walkway and a single street lamp illuminating a couple dozen feet until there's a dropoff where the darkness swallows the light and it's near impossible to see beyond it. As I stood under the light and prepared to walk out to the beach I saw a shadowy figure at the end of the lamplight walking towards me and I decided to run straight back to the house right there.
After that, I realized I'd never seen a horror game about the beach and I was so obsessed with the night vision camcorder from Outlast my first horror game combined both of those. Now an entire universe has been created from that first game and I'm so excited to expand on it in further stories and games :)

Hey there! I'm José an spanish solo game developer with a deep passion for horror. Right now, Shieven: Chapter One is out in steam (which fun fact, it is my first game and it took me a year and a half to learn and make everything I now know), and I'm currently working on Chapter Two. It might take a while, since I'm doing everything on my own, but I always prioritize quality over quantity.
I'm really in love with the phrase "The best distraction is your own creation", I don't know when but I just had that thought and it came out to be true. Too true. I Love Horror, I just love it. Horror makes you feel alive, that rush you get when you're scared by something you know isn’t real is like no other. The best horror games immerse you so deeply that even when you’re technically safe, you feel watched… uneasy… even afraid of the unknown.
